SCHOOL EDUCATION PROGRAMMES
TRUST is running six Non-Residential Schools on the outskirts of Bangalore (On and Off Bannerghatta Road and Mysore Road), for children, who are out of schools, on street and working in hazardous and non-hazardous child labor practices. Presently 250 children of age 6 to 14 years are enrolled with these schools, with support from the Department of Education (Under Sarva Shikshana Abhiyan – SSA) and the Department of Labour (Under National Child Labour Project – NCLP).
TRUST has been successful in getting as many as 95 children enrolled for mainstream education in different Government Schools during the last few academic years. This shows our commitment and dedication towards the cause of education of the under privileged children.
RIGHT BASED INITIATIVES
TRUST has also taken up an initiative to work with the children and women in two large urban slums of Jayanagar 9th Block, in association/collaboration with BRIDGE, a network of 13 NGOs. This unique program addresses the issues on right based approach for urban poverty alleviation. TRUST actively participated and contributed much to the success of the program.
SPECIAL RESIDENTIAL REHABILITATION SCHOOL FOR GIRL CHILD LABOURERS
TRUST successfully implemented a rehabilitation program for girls engaged in different hazardous works at Jangamakote in Siddlaghatta Taluk, Chikkaballapur District and on the outskirts of Bangalore city. 150 girls were rehabilitated in each of these special schools established for the purpose. TRUST had provided primary education, vocational training along with the nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner every day for these children during their stay at the school. Besides, TRUST had also organized Yoga classes and cultural events.
SKILL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING PROGRAMME
TRUST has successfully run a program, wit support from PPI, USA, to impart Comprehensive Skill Development Training in Book Binding, Tailoring and Fashion Designing to the street children and the students from the marginalized groups during the last few years. Along with the students, their Sisters and Mothers are also trained in livelihood skills and are encouraged to improve the social environment around them. Women and adolescent girls have greatly benefited through these skill development programs.
TRUST had successfully organized series of campaigns on the need, importance and value of education of children, Ayurvedic Awareness & Health Camps, Environment Awareness Campaigns, and Entrepreneur Awareness Programmes for the children, adolescent girls and women of marginalized communities in the area during the last several years.
